MASTER SHI DE CHENG - BIOGRAPHY

 

Shi Decheng (common name: Chen Qingzhen) was born in 1965 in Qi County, Kaifeng, Henan Province. He has been practicing martial arts with his family since he was a child. In 1980, he went to Dengfeng Sports School to learn Shaolin martial arts from the famous Shaolin boxing teacher Jiao Hongbo. Later, he was introduced by his teacher Jiao Hongbo to become a disciple of the Shaolin Temple monk Shi Suyun, and was given the Dharma name: Shi Decheng. He is a disciple of the 31st generation of Shaolin Temple. In 1988, the Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau established the "Songshan Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Hall" in Dengfeng Shaolin Temple. Master Shi Decheng became the first batch of outstanding martial arts professional team members and coaches of the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Hall. In February 1989, he visited France on behalf of the Shaolin Temple monks and was received by French President Jacques Chirac. He has performed special martial arts performances for domestic and foreign leaders such as Li Changchun, Qiao Shi, Li Desheng, Li Ruihuan, Singapore President Lee Kuan Yew, Thai Crown Princess, and French President Jacques Chirac. He was the director of the International Teaching Department of the Songshan Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Hall. 

In recent years, he has visited dozens of countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Ireland, Finland, Romania, etc. for martial arts performances and teaching. He won the "Songhe Cup" Shaolin Temple International Martial Arts Invitational Competition "Winning Award", and won two gold medals in the "National Traditional Martial Arts Exchange Competition" in 2004; won the gold medal in the "First World Traditional Boxing Competition"; won the "Gold Award" and "Gold Cup Award" at the 7th and 11th International Martial Arts Festivals held in Paris, France; the Italian Martial Arts Association awarded him the "Martial Arts Contribution Award" and "Friendship Award".

In August 2000, CCTV International Channel made a special report for him "Wuhan Monk's Journey to the West"; in 2006, the American "Exploration and Discovery" column came to China to make a special column "Martial Arts Exploration" for Master Shi Decheng. Master Shi Decheng has also been interviewed and reported by many foreign news media organizations such as Austrian TV, German National TV, British Local TV, American Kung Fu Magazine, French Kung Fu Magazine Cover Figure, French Nabonne TV, etc.

In 2000, Master Shi Decheng founded his own martial arts hall, "Songshan Shaolin Shi Decheng Martial Arts Hall", to promote national culture and train more Shaolin heirs. He has also opened international branches, which now cover countries such as France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland.

For many years, Master Shi Decheng has traveled around the world and trained batches of outstanding martial arts talents at home and abroad. He has made outstanding contributions to promoting the profound Shaolin martial arts culture. Therefore, he is praised by overseas friends as the "Shaolin Cultural Friendly Messenger".
